This is similar to the Wizard, but with just a simple, unimposing
hummingbird at the fifth fret. This particular one is for my daughter,
Hannah. Lightly quilted Maple, Mahogany back and Birds Eye neck, as
apposed to the Wizard, it is a bolt on neck with, as always, compound,
decreasing radius fret board from 10 to 14 in.
Quilted Maple carved top and Mahogany back.
The Hummingbird inlay is actually 15 pieces of Abalone,
gold, quilted and white Mother of Pearl.
Deciding on a fret-bord
The neck with truss rod in place, waiting for trimming
and shaping
The rich, red stain and a coat of sealer. Mmmmm!
The mock up
Vua La!
And, of course, the custom crate case. I've
always liked the idea of an old cargo or stage
coach type crate that belies an inner beauty. I
have made several of these cases for many of my
earlier projects.
